Finding Felt Tour
June 23rd
Bel Air Billiards
Bel Air Billiards brought out a larger and tougher field then in previous tournaments. There were some players looking to take advantage of a home field advantage Rick Davidson, Billy Smith, Phil Perry and Bob Kates. There were also players from the first Finding Felt event Dean Phillips, Bill Bickford and defending champ Dominic Noe.
Dominic showed why he came, playing in high gear and not making any unforced errors. That’s a tough combination to beat when you add running out ability into the mix. He moved thru the lower half of the bracket. In the top half of the bracket Loye Bolyard was on fire. Playing well and a generous roll in a hill/hill match kept him on the winner side.
The hot seat match was set Dominic Noe vs Loye Bolyard race to 5. Some trading game but Loye got the hot seat. On the one lose side there was Garcia Bouie rattled off 3 matches and falling short against Lee Diegel. That set up the semi final match with Dominic and Lee. Dominic started out like strong playing like a man on a mission. But Lee started fighting back picking up some games but fell short.
Finals were set a rematch of Dominic and Loye. Dominic starts out by winning the first game. But the deciding factor was the break. Loye was able to break the 9 – Ball in 2 times in a race to 5. That is impossible to over come in a short race of any kind winner or alternate breaks.
Thanks to all the players for coming out. Big thanks go out to the staff at Belair Billiards Sports Café for the great food and service. See you on August 25th, 2012
Thank you,
