The New Greenroom
This tournament had the best turn out of all the events to date. We were able to field 2 brackets of players. Bracket 1 was full of the heavy hitters. Some of the participants were Mark Ford, Dave Stem, Chuck Roth and Mike Slagle. Top half of the bracket was full of great play from Chuck Roth with his free stroking approach rattling off 4 wins over Ken Collins, Mike Slagle, and Jack Burkman to earn a hot seat spot. Lower half of the bracket had some hot match ups as well. Mark Ford had a rough road to the hot seat match with wins over Bob Parker, Dave Stem, and Tony Long. The match between the two undefeated players matched up two of the rooms toughest players Chuck and Mark. They traded game until Chuck was able to pull off the win in the end.
On the one lose side the competition was just as tough. Dominic Noe was on fire after his 1 loss to Tony Long. Dominic had 6 wins over some very strong players Jeff Hairston, Carl Robinson, and Mike Slagle leading into a rematch with Tony Long. Dominic was able to pull off the win setting up his match with Billy Bickford. That match leaded into the semi finals between Dominic and Mark. Dominic was once again able to come out with the victory. Chuck and Dominic desided to split considering the time.
Bracket 2 was started with 13 players and featured 5 females Chrissy Burkman, Boo Wilson, Tayna Stamp, Amanda Crigger and Emily Lieske. In the top half there were some close matches but Ronnie Briscoe was rolling thru with wins over Bobby McKinney, Tim Wilders Joe Ayler on his way to the hot seat. The Bottom half was full of ladies and the one that was running wild, Amanda Crigger. Rattling off 4 wins including the hot seat match up between Ronnie. The one lost side had some Women taking over the table. Emily lost her first match and settled in putting together some wins over Tim Wilder, Boo Wilson, Kim Turner running into a road block in Joe Ayler. Joe just came off a win against Chrissy then Emily then the semi-finals was set between Ronnie and Joe. Joe was working off momentum with the win over Ronnie setting up the finals with Amanda. Head to head match in skill level the road was set for Amanda needing to win 1 set and Joe coming for the one lose side needed to stop her and win both sets in a double elimination format. Joe was running on all cylinders from playing thru one lose side. The wait for the finals after winning the hot seat is a big part of the inner game and it showed Amanda was sluggish and hard to get started and Joe took full advantage of it. Winning both sets and become the first winner of division 2.
